Who is Elegua:
Elegua is known as the guardian of the crossroads, the orisha who opens and closes paths in life, and is the deity of choice, chance, and communication between the human and divine worlds.
Elegua is often depicted as a trickster with child-like qualities, embodying the unpredictability of fate and the importance of individual choices. Despite his playful and sometimes mischievous nature, he is a profoundly important orisha because he facilitates communication between the orishas and humanity, and between the different orishas themselves. He is also the first orisha to be propitiated in rituals because he opens the way for other spiritual communications to flow.
